Hi! We are Rachel and Mike

We’re a quirky couple that enjoys outdoor adventures, science experiments, baking, and reading a good book. We can’t wait to welcome a child of any race or gender into our life and provide him or her with a safe, playful, and loving environment. We would love to get to know you and learn about your hopes and dreams for your little one. We want to honor your wishes and if that includes an open adoption, we hope to foster a positive lasting relationship.

About Us

We first met in 2011 as graduate students and quickly developed a shared love of literature, robots, science, and volunteering. With Mike’s thoughtfulness and creativity and Rachel’s energy and joyfulness, we realized we could build a supportive, adventurous, and loving life together; we married in December 2014. Rachel works as a high school English teacher and Mike works as a data scientist. We both love to cook for each other and for other people, often using food from our garden. We enjoy hiking and visiting horse farms (to see Rachel’s favorite animal). Together we’re active in our church and community. We lead a small group, Mike volunteers as a high school computer science tutor, and Rachel sings with the local community choir.

Our Home and Family

We live in a quiet residential community in central Florida. Our 3 bedroom home faces a golf course where we enjoy seeing ibis, sandhill cranes, and peacocks in the evenings. We both spend tons of time outside, Mike in his garden and Rachel bicycling and walking. We host family from Pennsylvania and travel there at least once a year to see our parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mike’s brother and sister-in-law have a 2 year old son and Rachel reconnects with her adopted siblings (2 sisters and a brother) for holidays. Rachel is especially close to her Aunt Joan who has trained Mike how to make the secret family fudge recipe for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
